To the WOODS!!!!

John's 2003 guided London walk

11:15 Saturday 5 July 2003

Explore the wilder bits of south-east London! About 9 miles walking with stops at pubs on the way, and a stop for a picnic lunch. There are several rail stations nearby for those who need to leave the walk early.

Meet at Abbey Wood station [zone 4] (south side of railway line) at 11:15 a.m. (suburban service from London Bridge, about every 15 minutes, towards Dartford [some trains don't go all the way to Dartford]; journey time ~25 mins).

Car drivers - I really don't recommend driving through SE London on a Saturday! However, there are lots of suburban streets nearby, where parking should be possible, but remember that to get back to your car you may have to go to London Bridge by train and out again, as the walk isn't circular.

Bring with you: this information; boots, wellies, or comfortable shoes (not your best - the paths may well be muddy!); friends, relatives, children; sunglasses / sun-cream / waterproofs / umbrella (as this is England, you're likely to need all of these in the same day!); camera, binoculars; a bottle of water, snacks, money, and A-Z.
Most importantly, bring food for lunch (we'll be stopping for drinks, but not a meal).
There are shops in Abbey Wood for those who wish to buy nosh on the spot.

This walk is not suitable for wheelchairs, I'm afraid. Pushchairs should be OK with some help.

If you're late, or miss us, phone my mobile (07946-090105) and we'll arrange to meet you elsewhere (though if you're on your way to Abbey Wood, late, you may have to take a taxi to reach us, as there's no public transport in the direction we're going).

It's not absolutely essential, but it would be useful to know who is expecting to come on the walks.
Please email John Dawson, or phone 01462-893410.

There is no charge for coming on these walks; if you wish to contribute to a charity, my choice is
