John's 2010 London walk

Hampstead and Highgate

11:00 SATURDAY 12 June 2010

PUT THIS DATE IN YOUR DIARY NOW!!!

Meet at 11:00 in front of Hampstead tube station (Northern Line), ready to start walking at 11:15. If you're late, or miss us, phone my mobile (07784-528422) and we'll arrange to meet you elsewhere.

The walk will finish at Highgate tube station (Northern Line). About 6 miles walking with stops for drinks on the way (though anyone too exhausted after walking round Hampstead to cross Hampstead Heath and walk round Highgate can easily return to Hampstead tube station instead).

If this walk seems eerily familiar, it's because we did the reverse walk (Highgate to Hampstead) in 2001. However, when we reached a Hampstead café everyone [bastards!] refused to finish the rest of the walk round Hampstead village. To counteract this effect we're starting this walk in Hampstead.

WARNING: Although most of the walk is on pavements, parts of Hampstead Heath may be wet and/or muddy. Don't wear your best Gucci shoes or your trailing bell-bottom trousers!

Bring with you: this information; comfortable shoes (the walk is on roads apart from over Hampstead Heath); friends, relatives, children; sunglasses / sun-cream / waterproofs / umbrella (as this is England, you're likely to need all of these in the same day!); camera, binoculars; a bottle of water, snacks, money, and A-Z. Most importantly, bring food for lunch, or buy something in Hampstead (we'll be stopping for drinks, but not to buy a meal in a restaurant or pub).

It's not absolutely essential, but it would be useful to know who is expecting to come on the walks. Please email John Dawson, or phone 01462-893410.

There is no charge for coming on these walks. If you wish to make a charitable donation, the
Cambridge Cancer Help Centre would be my choice (they can accept CAF cheques).
