A Bridge Too Far!

John's new improved guided London walk

Wandsworth Bridge to Tower Bridge

11:30 Saturday 26 June 1999

For more information, contact John Dawson by email, or phone 01462-893410.

It's not absolutely essential, but it would be useful to know who is expecting to come on the walk. Please email or phone me on 01462-893410.

Tower Bridge Following the successful expedition by 22 intrepid souls into uncharted (and un-pubbed) parts of east London on 21 July 1997, you now have an opportunity to make close acquaintance with some sections of west London, mostly adjoining the Thames.
Although the walk is advertised as ending at Tower Bridge, it's very likely that we shall in fact end at Westminster!
Meet at the Ship Inn, Jews Row, south-west side of Wandsworth Bridge, at 11:30. Bring sandwiches for lunch (we'll stop for drinks frequently, but not to buy lunch!) London Bridge painted by Turner
Old London Bridge Getting there is an exercise for the reader (the nearest tube stations are East Putney, Putney Bridge, and Parsons Green [District Line] but they are all about 1.5 miles away; the nearest railway station is Wandsworth Town).
After suitable refreshment (!) we'll start walking at 12:30. If you're late, go to Battersea Bridge (south side), and wait for us to arrive (which will be about 13:45). Lunch will probably be eaten in Battersea Park London Bridge in Arizona
As we'll be walking in towards central London, it will be quite easy to leave the walk at any convenient point, and after Vauxhall there are plenty of tube stations near the route. The ultimate destination is Tower Bridge, but those who are infirm (or tired, or lazy) can cheat and travel part of the route by tube.
Bring with you: comfortable shoes, waterproofs and sun cream (this is England, you know!), camera, binoculars, a bottle of water, lunch, snacks, money, and an A-Z. Sherpas are optional. Old London Bridge, 1624
Children, partners, friends, parents, and grandparents (if they can walk about 10 miles) are welcome. People in wheelchairs are welcome, please contact me to arrange a team of pushers, and transport to the starting location if necessary.

Some people who have the energy and inclination will be heading to Attitude later [if you don't know what it is, don't ask!]
Some others will be going to Malcolm's party in Hitchin.
