READINGS ON THE WEB

WWW ACCESS TO READINGS FOR MY COURSES

The open shelves of Cambridge libraries (College, departmental, and above all the UL) are a joy that I hope you will want to experience time and again.  Having said that, pressures of time and the sheer number of students chasing the same document can be a genuine problem: I have therefore begun to provide xeroxed copies of key readings for my courses. "µ" , "¶" "§"   denote items available in the Marshall Library, Mill Lane Library, and Richard Powell Library respectively.

In most areas of my teaching, relevant materials (data, official documents, relevant academic literature) are increasingly available in digital form from the WWW.  I still prefer to distribute my reading lists and lecture handouts in hard copy: full URLs, however, are both ugly on the page and impractical as a route to the source.  For this reason, I have provided here hyperlinks to those items marked WWW in my reading lists.  This should prove helpful for a first view of each reading, but many will still prefer a hard copy for deeper study: several of the WWW readings below are therefore also available in hard copy at one of the three libraries above, and marked accordingly.

I aim to provide links directly to relevant resources (a specific working paper, a set of data), rather than more broadly to institutions or collections of materials in the field.  New material is constantly becoming available, however, and you may often strike gold by following the leads offered in professionally maintained links pages (typically those of good university departments, beginning with our own: Economics and Politics , History , Social and Political Science , Judge Institute of Management Studies , Richard Powell Library ...)..  Indeed, whenever you do, I shall be very pleased to hear about it!
