Maritime and Naval Museums in Britain and Ireland

This web-site lists nearly 300 museums and museum-ships in Britain and Ireland, over 700 museum vessels of historic interest and a few classic non-museum vessels in private or commercial ownership. Maps, indexes and links to other web-sites are provided. The site is primarily a list of museums with ways of contacting them and getting more detailed information. The entries are not detailed guides to the collections. Opening times are sometimes changed at short notice and the details given may be out of date. Never make a special journey to a museum without first confirming the opening hours.

Please note: The format of our web-site has changed. This page is built to HTML 4.01 standards and should be accessible to almost any recent browser. The other main pages are built to XHTML 1.0 standards, incorporate a navigation menu bar across the top of the viewing window, and most current browsers will benefit from this. If your browser cannot use this, the eight individual files of this web-site are separately accessible through the links listed in the panel below this one.

• Some Non-Museum Vessels: a few of the classic vessels in commercial or private operation.
• Introduction and supplementary information. Explanation of the abbreviations used and the terms, structure and scope of this site. Addresses and links to other sources of information and guide books.
• Links to other web-sites related to maritime museums and heritage.

All the eight pages above are built to XHTML 1.0 standards.
