PWFweb: PWF Personal Web Page

This is the default PWF personal web page for a user and its appearance indicates that this user has not yet set up a personalised page.

If this is the index page for your account, this file is "public_html/index.html" in your PWF filespace. The documentation for this service is available on the CS website - see the online leaflet Web Pages on the PWF.

You may edit this PWFweb content in a number of ways:

• From PWF Windows: Open 'My Documents (Drive U)' on the desktop, then open public_html, to find index.html. Under PWF Programs > Web Design Tools you will find the HTML editors Dreamweaver and HomeSite, or you can edit the files with the Notepad editor. Don't edit the file with Microsoft Word.
• From any PWF Mac: Open your user folder in the Dock and find the folder public_html. Under the Apple menu > Applications > Web Design Tools you will find the HTML editors Dreamweaver and BBEdit, or you can edit the file with TextEdit. Don't edit the file with Microsoft Word.
• From any computer you can gain remote access to your filespace and edit files - see http://www.cam.ac.uk/cs/pwf/remote/ for the options available..

If you are new to creating web pages, Dreamweaver (available on the PWF application menu) is an excellent tool for giving you a what-you-see-is-what-you-get view of the page you are editing, without requiring you to learn the 'HTML' syntax used within the page.

HTMLdog has some excellent online tutorials for creating web pages in HTML.
