Toby is Research Assistant on the ESRC-funded Project 'Categories and Gradience in Intonation' in the Research Centre for English and Applied Linguistics in the University of Cambridge.

Toby worked previously in the Phonetics Lab in the Department of Linguistics as a Research Assistant in Forensic Phonetics, on two projects: VoiceSim, which investigates the theory behind the forensic voice parade and the effect of the telephone, and DyViS, a Forensic Phonetic Study of British English. Both projects were funded by the ESRC.

He has a BA in Classics and an MPhil in Indo-European Philology from the University of Cambridge. His interests are in Phonology and Phonetics in general.
